It's funny, I can remember one of my first oil paintings as a teenager; a snowy owl. And here I am decades later, after years of creating large scale paintings of allegory, myth, loss and identity, painting the same thing I did long ago. As a boy I loved books about animals with artist’s illustrations, and spent countless hours joyfully pouring over the painted animals and fish and birds. I think we are who we really are, and maybe, after all these years, I can admit it. I just like painting animals.
